Phillip Jay (PJ) Funk was born on May 1, 1961, in Mitchell, South Dakota. He passed away peacefully on May 18, 2026, surrounded by friends and family. PJ was part of Picture and Frame Industries for over 45 years. He held many positions within the company, from sweeping floors and making frames, to serving as Sales Manager and most recently, Production Manager. His dedication and impact on PFI will not be forgotten.

PJ was the son of Jack L. and Martha L. Funk (Kraschel). He attended Blue Springs High School. He married Deborah J. McKinnon on July 4th, 1998. PJ loved working with his customers, shelter dogs, Formula One racing, spending time with friends and family, and he will be dearly missed.

PJ is survived by his wife, Deborah J. McKinnon; his sister, Cassandra G. Gabbert; his two brothers, Christopher A. Funk and Mark K. Funk; his nieces and nephews, Whitney E. (Gabbert) Romi, Nicholas Funk, Ryan Funk, and Jason Funk; and his great nieces and nephews, Mackinley M. Gabbert, Kace Romi, and Nina Romi.

PJ was preceded in death by his parents, Jack L and Martha L Funk; one nephew, Brice C. Gabbert; and one brother-in-law, John Gabbert.

His Celebration of Life is Saturday, June 6 from 9-11am at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E 39th St, Independence, MO 64055 Phone: (816) 373-3600.
