Phyllis Yvonnie McCarty

Phyllis Yvonne McCarty, 94 of Blue Springs, MO passed away Saturday, May 4, 2024 at The Parkway Senior Living in Blue Springs, MO.  A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 10, 2024 at Leavenworth National Cemetery.  A memorial service will be held at 7p.m., Thursday, May 9, 2024 at the Community Of Christ, Parkview Congregation.  The family will greet friends from to 6-7p.m. prior to the services.  Phyllis was born June 5, 1929 in Marysville, KS to Carl Columbus DeLong, Sr and Lula Bell (VanGundy) and has been a longtime area resident.  She was a registered nurse and had worked for the Independence Sanitarium and later for Independence Regional Health Center for a number of years.    She enjoyed roller skating, gardening and sewing.   She is survived by; 2 daughters, Julie Davis and husband Eric of Grain Valley, MO and Patricia Brock and husband Howard of Independence, MO; a daughter-in-law, Debra McCarty of Independence, MO; 6 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.   She was preceded in death by her husband Daniel W.
