Florio D. “Sarge” Piccinini, MSgt, Army, Retired, 89, Lee’s Summit, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 13, 2013.
Sarge was born November 28, 1924 in Oakmont, PA the son of Antonio and Concetta (Martini) Piccinini. Sarge retired from the United States Army after 30 years of service having served in WWII, Korean War and the Vietnam War. Sarge’s military career began with the 82nd Airborne at Normandy (D-Day), the Battle of the Bulge, and Rhineland campaigns. He also obtained the Master Parachutist badge, which included over 150 jumps. Sarge was a longtime member of the Lakewood Country Club, and was an avid golfer and gardener.
He is survived by his loving wife, Pamela Piccinini of 21 years; children, Irene Piccinini, Linda Graham, Thomas Piccinini, James Piccinini, Darlene Ambriz, Carol Piccinini, Joseph Piccinini; stepchildren, Jeramy and Samantha Palmer; 21 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; sisters, Mildred DeIulius, Elsie Messina and additional nieces, nephews and family. He was preceded in death by his son, John Piccinini; sister, Eva Shaffer; and his parents.
A celebration of Sarge’s life will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 20, 2013 at Speaks Suburban Chapel; 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055.
