Luella Pickel

Luella MaryAnn (Daughetee) Pickel, 82, formerly of Dubuque went to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 17, 2015, in Kansas City, MO.

A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 3rd, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Dubuque. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery, Dubuque.

Luella was born on March 18, 1933 in Dubuque, to Lyle and Ruth (Sear) Daughetee. She married La Vern Pickel in 1951, and were married 54 years until his death in 2005. Luella was a homemaker and also very active in her church as a Sunday School teacher, member of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League and enjoyed working on the Braille committee. She also worked at Barstow School in Kansas City and Russell Stover candy in Texas.

Luella is survived by her son, Steven Pickel, and his wife Michele of Lino Lakes, MN, daughter, Cyndie Priddy and her husband Michael of Kansas City; and Linda Reade and her husband Mike of Grandbury, TX; Grandchildren: Lisa Pickel of Minneapolis, MN, Andrew Pickel and his wife Nikki of Ramsey, MN, Jacob Priddy of Kansas City, Aaron Priddy and his wife Samantha of Spring, TX, and Lindsey Powell and her husband Michael of Granbury, TX; Great-grandchildren: Shaun Wolverton, Kirra Pickel, Willa Priddy, Rex Priddy, Jackson Powell, and Vivian Powell; Siblings: Ruth Ann Jarrard and husband Dave of Parma, Idaho; Marilyn Troy; Donna Bandy and her husband Oakley and Larry Daughetee and his wife Jane, all of Dubuque. Her sister-in-law Grace Daughetee of Dubuque; brother-in-law, Kenneth Pickel and his wife Betty of East Dubuque, Ill; and a sister-in–law Hazel Pickel of Dubuque.

Luella was preceded in death by her sister, JoAnne Pickel and brother, Lyle Daughetee.
