Doris Pickens

Doris E. Beebe Pickens, 98, Independence, MO passed away Friday, February 18, 2011. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Monday, February 21, 2011 at Carson-Speaks Chapel; 1501 W. Lexington Ave. Independence, MO. Burial will be private at Woodlawn Cemetery. Doris was born June 10, 1912 in Kansas City, MO the daughter of Franklin Arthur and Sarah May (Todd) Lawrence. She was employed with National Bella Hess and later Montgomery Wards for 15 years. Doris was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. She enjoyed baking, especially pies. Doris was preceded in death by her first husband Ralph L. Beebe in 1953 and her second husband Raymond John Pickens. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Marie Black and Virgie; brother, Arthur F. Lawrence and daughter in law, Evelyn Hills Beebe. Survivors include her son, Robert Beebe of Raytown; daughter, Norma Nation and her husband Charles of Kansas City; seven grandchildren 17 great grandchildren and additional great great grandchildren; sister Anne F. Lawson and additional family.
