Mildred Anne Pitman-Denman, 78, of Independence, Mo. passed away, Sunday, January 13, 2008 at her daughters, home in Pleasant Hill, MO. Services will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 17, 2008 at the Pleasant Heights congregation of the Community of Christ Church. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 9:30 a.m. until service time Thursday at the church. Donations may be made to the Community of Christ Church for Native American Ministries 1001 W. Walnut, Independence, MO 64050. Mildred was born November 9, 1929 in Williamsburg, MO to Robert and Eulah (Mumford) Vermillion and graduated from Westport High School. She had worked as a salesperson for Reece and Nichols and for several years prior to that for Rinehart Real Estate where she received numerous awards including Salesperson of the Year. She was an avid enthusiast of the American Royal and enjoyed Native American Ministry. She was a member of the Optimist Club of Independence where she served as the club’s secretary. She was married to Dale Pitman in 1947, he passed away in 1990. She later married Beldon Denman in 2003, he survives of the home. Other survivors include; a daughter, Teresa Morgan of Pleasant Hill, MO; 3 sons, Terry Pitman of Independence, MO, Chris Pitman of Burbank, CA and Jay Pitman of Wellsville, KS; 2 step daughters, Dee White Eye of Hiawatha, KS and Kathy Wilke of Stillwater, MN; a brother, Wayne Vermillion of Kansas City, MO; a sister, Lucille Self of Greenville, SC; 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
