Hazel Eleanor (Buell) Ploeger, 94, of Valley View, TX, formerly of Independence, MO passed away, Monday, September 13, 2010 at her residence. Services will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 18, 2010 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 1:00 p.m., until service time Saturday at the chapel. Hazel was born one of 6 children on December 14, 1915 in Bedford, IA to Frank and Anna Buell. She spent her early years in Bedford and Omaha, NE moving to Kansas City to attend Ashland Grade School and East High School. She attended college in Greeley, CO. She was a schoolteacher and had taught at Hilltop School in White Cloud, KS and Highland Grade School in Highland, KS. She received her college degree at Northwest State College in Marysville, MO. Moved to Independence Missouri in 1959 and taught at Spring Branch and Proctor School before she retired after 25 years. She enjoyed craftwork including painting and doll making. She was a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma Honorary Teachers Society, Sigma Sigma Sigma Society, Ladies Oriental Shrine, Order of Eastern Star, Missouri Retired Teachers, Daughters of the American Revolution and Elder Emeritus of Blue Ridge Christian Church. She was married to Gilbert S.C. Ploeger in 1936; he passed away in December of 2003. Survivors include; children, Carl W. and Sandra Ploeger and JulieAnn Schwope; grandchildren, Andrew and Becky Ploeger, Matthew Ploeger, Laura and Fred Garner, Tyler and Lori Schwope and Corri and Rob Hoy; great grandchildren, Emma and Megan Ploeger, Benjamin and Scotty Ploeger, Christian Garner, Christopher Bolten, Timothy Schwope, Sally and Jim Pat Hootman and Suzy Brooks and 4 great great grandchildren, Seth and Audrey Hootman and Clair and Ava Marker.
