Thomas E. Pontalion, Sr., 68, of Independence, MO passed away December 20, 2008 at his home. A visitation will be held from 6-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 23, at the Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington, Independence, MO. The service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the chapel. Burial at Mt. Moriah Cemetery. Thomas was born March 27, 1940 in Kansas City, MO to Gilbert and Nellie Pontalion. He grew up in Kansas City, MO and attended Northeast High School. Thomas joined the United States Army on July 12, 1963. He married Eva Casper on March 25, 1967. His hobbies included fishing, hunting and he loved his bird dogs. He was also a member of the American Legion, Post 21. In 1993, after 35 years, Thomas retired from Wonderbread. He is survived by his wife, Eva Pontalion; two sons, Rick Pontalion and Thomas E. Pontalion, Jr. and wife LeAnn; two granddaughters, Kensley and Makenna Pontalion; four sisters, Bonnie, Wanda, Sharon and Diane; two brothers, Gilbert and Mark. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother Robert Landram.
