Mary Porter

Mary Ellen Porter, 90, of Independence, MO peacefully passed away Saturday, December 24, 2011 at Kansas City Hospice House. Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at Woodlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Kansas City Chapter of the ALS Association, 6950 Squibb Rd, Suite 210, Mission, KS 66202. Mary Ellen was born October 31, 1921 in Independence, MO to Vaught and Hattie (Hammontree) Link. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who loved her family dearly. Mrs. Porter is survived by her son Lawrence Porter and wife Jeanne; daughter Terri Wiley and husband Russell; grandchildren Kelli and Joseph Penner, Darren and Amy McClain,; great-granddaughter Addison; sister-in-law Cora Belle Link; and by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many special friends. Mary Ellen was preceded in death by her husband James “Bud” Porter; and two brothers.
