David Reavis Poteet, 86 of Independence, MO passed away Wed. Mar. 12, 2008 at Centerpoint Medical Center. Services will be 2:30 p.m. Mon. Mar. 17, 2008 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Indep. MO with visitation from 1:00 pm until service time. Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m., Tue. Mar. 18, 2008 at Steele Cemetery in Falls City, NE. In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to the Shiner’s Hospital c/o Ararat Shrine, 5100 Ararat Dr. KCMO 64129. Mr. Poteet was born Dec. 28, 1921 to Clarence H. and Anna (Reavis) Poteet in Falls City, NE. He retired from the Missouri Pacific Railroad in 1983. David was a loving husband, father and Poppa who enjoyed spending time with his family, especially attending his granddaughters’ activities. He liked skiing, boating, square dancing, listening to music and motorcycling. David was a proud veteran of WWII, serving with the Army Military Police in the Pacific Theater. He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, The N.A.R.V.R.E., the Elks club, American Legion, VFW, a fifty year member of the Masonic Lodge # 76, and the Ararat Shrine. When he was director of the Ararat Motor Corps, the Unit won first place in the National and Central States Competitions. David is survived by his wife of 61 years, Jerilee Poteet, two sons, David L. Poteet and wife Holly of Pawleys Island, SC and Roger C. Poteet and wife Kim of Gladstone, MO, granddaughters, Marla Poteet and Dara Poteet and many other relatives and friends. We love you and will miss you!
