Joann Potter, 83, of Independence, MO passed away May 10, 2013. A visitation will be held from 6-8:00 p.m. on Monday, May 13, at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. Services at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the chapel, with burial to take place at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Big Creek Cemetery in Bosworth, MO. Joann was born February 15, 1930 in Bosworth, MO to Ernest A. and Gladys O. (Calvert) Watts. She was a housewife, who enjoyed volunteering at the Medical Center of Independence for many years. She also worked the general elections in Independence, MO. Joann was a member of the Christian Union Church. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Homer Potter. She is survived by daughter, Sharon Wiley and husband John; son Frank Potter and wife Patricia; grandchildren, Lori Cox, Jennifer Compton and husband Gerry, Johnna Freeman, Darrin Potter and Jaime Potter; 7 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandson; 2 step grandsons; 1 step granddaughter; and 5 great-great step grandchildren.
