Elsie Mattson Powell, 103, of Independence, MO passed away Saturday, May 7, 2005. A graveside service will be 10 am Wednesday, May 11th at Floral Hills Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6 to 8 pm at Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave. Elsie was born July 18, 1901 in Prairie du Rocher, IL to Julius and Henrietta Godier. She was a homemaker and longtime area resident. Elsie was preceded in death by her husbands, George H. Mattson and D. Ray Powell; and a daughter, Mary L. Barron. She is survived by her son, Harold E. Mattson of Independence, MO; four grandchildren; three great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren.
