Nina Powell

Nina Harris Powell, 96 of Independence, MO passed away Thu. Mar. 6, 2008. Services will be 2:00 p.m., Mon. Mar 10, 2008 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Indep. MO with the visitation being held one hour prior to the service. Burial in Greenwood (MO) Cemetery. Contributions are suggested to the First Baptist Church of Independence. Mrs. Powell was born on Apr. 5, 1911 to Oscar and Helen Harris in Greenwood, MO. Nina retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone Company with 25 years of service and was a member of the SWB Pioneers Club. She was a member of the Independence Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolutionary War and the First Baptist Church of Independence. She graduated from Lee’s Summit High School and attended Warrensburg College. Nina was dedicated to her Lord and Savior and will be missed by all those that knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Leland Powell, and two sisters, Ethel Goocher and Parlee Langsford. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sadonna and John Pilgrim of Independence, grandchildren, Michael and wife Linda, Denise Allen, Darin and wife Cindy and great grandchildren Brock, Brad, Adrianna, Jeremy, Lucas and Jessica.
