Doris Evelyn Rambo, 88 of Independence, MO, passed away, Friday, June 3, 2011 at Carmel Hills Living Center. Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 10, 2011 at the Mound Grove Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, June 9, 2011 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055. Donations may be made in her name to Alzheimer’s Association. Doris was born October 4, 1922 in Carrollton, MO to Walter L. and Nellie (Perreton) Lance. She grew up in Carrollton and graduated from Carrollton High School in 1940. She had worked as a sales clerk in the fabric department for TG&Y for over 20 years before she retired in the late 1980’s. She was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church in Independence and was also a member of the GGG Club. She was married to Lawrence Prout in 1941 until they divorced in 1970. She later married Harold William Rambo in 1974; he preceded her in death in August of 2010. Survivors include; her children, Julia Kunesh of Norman, OK, Dale Prout of Westwood Hills, KS, John Prout of Denver, CO, Carolyn Ross of Independence, MO and Michael Prout of Blue Springs, MO; a step son, Kenneth Rambo and wife Carolyn of Independence, MO; 5 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and 3 step great grandchildren. Her parents and a sister, Beverly Lance, preceded her in death. Doris was a lively conversationalist and will be greatly missed.
