Ronald Carl Randol, 64, of Lee’s Summit, MO (formerly of Independence), passed away Aug., 7, 2010, with his loving wife and children by his side after a long and grueling battle with idiopathic cerebellar degeneration. Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Wednesday, Aug. 11 at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO. Visitation will be from 6-8:00 PM Tuesday at the Chapel. Private Burial.
Ron was born July 21, 1946 in Denver, CO, the oldest son of Willard and Betty Randol. The family soon moved to Des Moines, IA where Ron graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1964. He earned a bachelors degree from Drake University in 1968. After graduation, he served in the U.S. Army from 1968-1970. Ron went on to a 30-year career in federal law enforcement as a Special Agent for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms. He had a passion for the outdoors and was an avid deer and turkey hunter. He loved training bird dogs and was a member of the Missouri Brittany Club. Ron coached youth basketball for many years in Independence and enjoyed playing golf, volunteering at Adams Pointe Golf Course in Blue Springs after retirement. Ron enjoyed life, family and friends, and will be sorely missed.
Ron leaves his wife of 34 years, Betty Randol; as well as their three children: Matt McNett (Kerri), Kelli Adkins (Loren), and Brett Randol (Brooke), all of Lee’s Summit. He also leaves the joy of his life, his five grandchildren: Kailey, Riley and Gage McNett, and Clayton and Graham Adkins. Ron is also survived by two brothers: Jeff Randol (Terri) of Solebury, PA and Doug Randol (Fiona) of Olympia, WA; his aunt LaVare Randol of Independence; his brother and sister-in-law Jimmy McManama (Donna) of Centralia, MO; and five nieces and two nephews.
