Raymond Orville Latham, Jr., affectionately known as "Ray," was born on September 3, 1935, in Raytown, Missouri. He departed this world on June 19, 2025, in Independence, Missouri, surrounded by love. Ray's journey through life was marked by a profound dedication to his work and a remarkable ability to bring joy to others. He served as a mail carrier for 28 years, retiring in 1990, and he continued to weave happiness into the lives of many during his 30-year tenure as a vendor for the Royals from 1983 to 2013. It was during these years that he earned the endearing title of "Elvis the Singing Beer Man," entertaining countless fans with his charisma and wit. His penchant for telling jokes and making people laugh was legendary; his humor brought light into the lives of those who crossed his path. Ray was a proud graduate of William Chrisman High School, class of 1953, where his love for music began to flourish. He had a profound passion for playing the piano and singing, often sharing his musical talents with family and friends, enriching their lives with the gift of song. Ray also served his country in the Army, stationed in Germany at the same time as the King of Rock 'n Roll himself, Elvis Presley—a delightful twist that he frequently shared with a twinkle in his eye. Ray's legacy is reflected in the love and laughter he fostered in his family life. He is survived by his devoted wife, Karen Latham, his many children and stepchildren, and an abundance of grandchildren and great-grandchildren who cherished their time with him. His home was always filled with warmth, mirth, and the melodic echoes of his beloved piano, embodying the spirit of a man who truly enjoyed life. Ray now reunites with those who have preceded him in death, including his parents, Raymond Sr. and Bernice Latham. He leaves behind a world forever enriched by his humor, music, and the love he shared with so many. As we remember Raymond Orville Latham, Jr., let us carry forward his laughter and his songs in our hearts—celebrating a life well-lived and a soul that shall forever sing among the stars. Cremation is planned with a Celebration of Life to take place Saturday, June 28th 2025, at Liberty Community of Christ Church, starting at 12pm.
