Clarence Lee Raynes, 82 of Independence, MO passed away, Tuesday, September 16, 2003 at the Independence Regional Health Center. Services will be 10:00 am, Fri., Sep 19, 2003 at the George C. Carson & Sons Funeral Home. Burial in Mount Washington Forever Cemetery. Visitation will be from 7 - 8:30 pm, Thursday at the Funeral Home. Contributions are suggested to Children�s Center for The Visually Impaired, 3101 Main, Kansas City, MO 64111. Mr. Raynes was born on Sep. 6, 1921 to Lee and Rosetta Raynes in Columbus, MO and has lived in this area most of his life. He had work in electrical maintenance for Lipton Tea Company retiring in the late 1980�s He was an Army Veteran of WWII, receiving the Purple Heart. He was a member of the American Legion Post 21 and the Ambassadors Club at Lipton Tea. Mr. Raynes was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Raynes in 1998 and by five siblings, Velma Garroutte, Lucille Garroutte, Mary Miller, Carl Raynes and John Raynes. He is survived by a daughter, Nancy McBrayer of Independence, MO. A grandson Harvey McBrayer and his wife Michelle of Independence. A son-in-law John McBrayer of Morehead, KY. Two great grandson�s Garrett McBrayer and Ian McBrayer. One brother Robert Vernon Raynes of Independence, MO. Two sisters, Rosalee Roberts of Oak Grove, MO and Betty Denny of Virginia
