Reatha Nixon Johnson

Reatha Nixon Johnson, 97, of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away peacefully on May 21, 2025.

Reatha was born in 1928 to Francis and Elizabeth Nixon. She was born and raised in Hays and Ogallah, Kansas. She moved to Independence, Missouri, where she married Russell Johnson, her beloved husband. They made their home in Independence, Missouri. Reatha was a proud mother and grandmother. She is survived by her son, Mark, and Vicki Johnson of Prairie Village, Kansas, their daughter, Taylon, and David Bush of Baltimore, Maryland, and their children, Miles and Kenzie.

Reatha devoted her time to family, church, and community. After Russ passed away in 1973, she moved to Overland Park, Kansas. She was a member of the Leawood United Methodist Church and an avid walker in the neighborhoods where she lived. She enjoyed traveling and visiting over 40 states and several countries in Europe. She was a lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Most of all, she loved spending time with her cherished family and friends.

A private service for the family will be held at the cemetery. Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Leawood United Methodist Church.
