Hershel E. Redford, 92, of Independence, MO passed away, Monday, December 15, 2008 at Rosewood Health Center. Services will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, 22, 2008 at the Carson-Speaks Chapel. Burial will be in Six-Mile Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m., until service time Monday at the chapel. Hershel was born March 11, 1916 in Little Blue, MO to Victor B. and Pearl (Hook) Redford and has been a lifelong area resident. He had worked as a metal polisher for Benson Manufacturing for a number of years and later worked for Jackson County Public Works until he retired in 1983. He was a member of the Waldo Avenue Baptist Church and proudly served in the U.S. Army during WWII and was awarded 4 Bronze Stars. He was married to Bessie Burhle, who precedes him in death. Survivors include; a daughter, Gail Watkins and her husband Ed of Independence, MO; a grandson, Charles E. Watkins of Independence, MO; a great grandson, Charles E. Watkins II of Independence, MO and 2 nieces, Marian Ferrell and her husband John and Sherry Coy all of Independence, MO.
