Rachel Reistad

Rachel Reistad, 90, of Independence, MO died November 4, 2010 with her loving husband and family by her side. Rachel was born March 15th 1920 in Soldiers Grove Wisconsin. She married Frank Reistad on June 2, 1945. In their early years of marriage, they lived in many cities around the country, but settled in Independence in 1963. She was a member of Community of Christ Church, Ridgewood congregation. Rachel and Frank spent winters in Mesa, Arizona until 2002. She was preceded in death by parents, Philip and Anna (Maybee) Davenport; sister, Ruth Hubanks; and beloved niece, Marsha Roberts Luckey. She is survived by her loving husband Frank Reistad; daughter, Pam Rector (Independence); grandchildren, Mike Rector (Kansas City), Beth Rector (Kansas City); niece, Sheila Geehan (St.Paul, Minnesota); and many other cherished family members who she loved dearly. Rachel had many God given talents, but none as strong as her musical ability. She loved any musical instrument, but especially loved playing the piano and organ. She had a beautiful voice, loved to sing, and over the years sang many solos at church, and always participated in choir. She was an artist as well, and leaves many beautiful oil paintings to be enjoyed by her family. She loved everyone she met, always had a compliment or a hug to give, and had a wink and a smile that won’t easily be forgotten. She never had a bad word to say about anyone, and always found the best in people even when it was sometimes hard to find. She loved her sweets, loved to bake, always had a jigsaw puzzle out to work on, and always wanted to send home food or a gift when people came to visit. She loved her friends and family deeply, but no one as much as Frank. They were best friends, inseparable, and enjoyed 65 beautiful years together.
