Alice Reneau

October 18, 1901 — July 19, 2008

Alice Elizabeth Frederici Reneau, 106 of Independence, MO, formerly of Council Bluffs, IA passed away peacefully, Saturday, July 19, 2008 at Rosewood Health Center. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday at the Cedar Lawn Cemetery in Council Bluffs, IA. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday evening at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. Alice was born October 18, 1901 in North Platte, NE to Francis and Mary (Buck) Frederici and spent her early life in Nebraska before moving to Council Bluffs in 1933. She spent her early life as a wife, mother and homemaker. During WWII she supported the war effort by working in the factory of World Radio in Council Bluffs, IA. Later in life she worked in retail sales. She was an accomplished seamstress and was known for making wedding dresses for her granddaughters. She also enjoyed knitting, ceramics and cooking. She was an active member of the Community of Christ Church in Council Bluffs Central where she was active in church women’s groups and was in charge of the fellowship dinners. She also, along with her husband, were guides for the Pottawatomie County Jail in Council Bluffs, IA. She was married to Floyd I. Reneau for over 71 years before he passed away in 1992. Survivors include; a son, James Reneau and his wife Joan of Independence, MO; 11 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 18 great great grandchildren. She was the last survivor of 9 children and the only surviving niece of Louise Frederici Cody and William F. “Buffalo Bill” Cody. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Janet Rasmussen and 3 sons, Robert Reneau, Donald Reneau and Phillip Reneau.
