Robert “Bob” Rengel, 65, of Sugar Creek, MO passed away Monday, October 26, 2009 at his home after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, October 29, 2009 at St. Cyril’s Catholic Church, 11231 Chicago St., Sugar Creek, MO 64054. Visitation will be 5-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at the church. Burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Kansas City Hospice or to the church. Bob was born June 28, 1944 in Independence, MO to James and Louise (Deghy) Rengel. He graduated from De La Salle High School in 1962. Mr. Rengel received his Eagle Scout on April 24, 1960 and had been affiliated with Troop 228 for 15 years. Bob retired after 30 years of faithful service from KCPL in 1997 as a journeyman lineman splicer. He was a board member of the International Lineman’s Rodeo Association and was a grounds coordinator for the annual Lineman’s Rodeo. Mr. Rengel was a volunteer with Sugar Creek CDC, a past chairman with the Edison Credit Union, and a past secretary/treasurer of the Santa Fe Investment Club. Bob is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Mary Lou (Smiroldo) Rengel; daughters Patty Binkley and friend David Stacy; Lisa Owen and husband Corey; son Jodie Murphy; grandchildren Blake Butrum, Colby Owen, Carl Binkley, Samantha and Levi Murphy; great-grandchildren Dayton and Nevaeh Binkley; sister Marianne O’Brien and husband Mike; brother James Rengel and wife Sherry; sister-in-law Vicki Zuber; brother-in-law Frank Smiroldo and friend Mona Sextro; mother-in-law Elizabeth Smiroldo; and by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Denise Rengel; father-in-law Santo Smiroldo; and by his beloved dalmation Lady Di.
