Opal Geneva (Elston) Rew, 95, passed away August 26, 2008 at the Villages of Jackson Creek in Independence, MO. She was born in Andover, MO on February 25, 1913 to Fred and Dovie Naomi Elston. She was raised on a farm in Iowa and rode her pony to school. She married Clarence D. Rew on November 11, 1934 and lived on a farm until 1952 when they moved to the Northeast area of Kansas City. After retirement they spent summers at their cabin at the Lake of the Ozarks. They enjoyed fishing and visits from their children and grandchildren. Winters were spent in their mobile home in the Rio Grande Valley. Opal was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 59 years, Clarence; daughter, Beverly; son, Philip; sister, Freda Du Coing; brothers, Paul and Keith Elston. She is survived by two sons, Raymond (Luella) and Howard (Marilyn); one daughter, Donna Carpenter (Chuck); and one sister, Carolyn Mings (Vearl). She will be fondly remembered by her 11 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and one great-great granddaughter. Visitation will be held from 1-2:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 28, at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, with the service to follow at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel. Burial at Mound Grove Cemetery.
