Joan E. Rice

Joan E. Rice, 76, of Independence, MO passed away on Saturday, November 27, 2004 at the North Kansas City Hospital. A visitation will be held from 7-8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 1, at the Carson-Speaks Chapel. A graveside service will be held 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 2, at Woodlawn Cemetery. Joan was born on December 20, 1927 in Independence, MO to George and Beulah Gibbons. Mrs. Rice worked for many years as the housekeeper for Truman Medical Center East. She was preceded in death by her husband of 21 years, Harry E. Rice Jr; daughter, Marsha Rice; and grandson, Steve Lawless. Joan is survived by her two sons, James and Kent Rice; sister, Eva Guffey; 8 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren.
