Richard Dale Harvey

February 11, 1959 — May 12, 2025

Independence

Richard Dale Harvey, affectionately known as Rich, was called to his heavenly home on May 12, 2025, in Independence, Missouri. He graced this world with his presence for 66 unforgettable years.

Rich was born on February 11, 1959, in Independence, Missouri. He completed his education at Fort Osage High School and dedicated his career to working as a local truck driver, serving the community with reliability and commitment throughout his life. Rich was a simple man who lived life grounded in routine, physical fitness, and unwavering faith. His warm personality and love for laughter endeared him to all who knew him, often sharing the best (or worst) dad jokes that brought smiles to many faces. An avid lover of music, Rich found joy in the rhythms of the blues and the energy of rock n roll. He possessed a remarkable memory, often recalling intricate details such as lineups from MLB games in the 1980s. His enthusiastic support for local sports teams, including the Kansas City Chiefs and the Royals, spoke to his superstitious nature, particularly when it came to their performances. Rich enjoyed spending his free time basking in the sun, working out at the gym, or grilling up a mean steak, which he did with great pride. His love for home extended to his yard, where he delighted in planting elephant ears, one of his favored plants, and maintaining an inviting outdoor space. A deeply spiritual man, Rich made it a ritual to read his Bible every morning, finding strength and comfort in his faith in God. It served as a guiding light throughout his life, impacting those around him in profound ways.

Rich's passing was preceded by his parents, Richard Lee and Helen AnaLee (Stark) Harvey; and his grandparents, Leroy and Grace Stark. His legacy of love and laughter lives on through his significant other and best friend, Ana Stone; his sister, Lisa Harvey; and his dear friend, Kathy Morse.

Rich will be laid to rest at a graveside service at Oak Ridge Memory Gardens, 18301 E Salisbury Rd, Independence, MO 64056, on May 21, 2025, beginning at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Grace Church in Independence, Missouri.
