Richard Franklin Knowles, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on September 2, 2023. He was born on September 4, 1945, in Webb City, Missouri to Franklin O. and Leunora Knowles. Richard had a fulfilling life marked by his exemplary military service, successful career, and numerous personal accomplishments.

After graduating from Raytown High School in 1963, Richard proudly served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He demonstrated great dedication and bravery while serving his country and was honorably discharged as a Corporal.

Richard's strong work ethic carried over into civilian life as he dedicated 33 years of service to Armco/GST Steel in Kansas City. Known for his expertise and reliability, he made a lasting impact on his colleagues during his tenure there. Following retirement from GST, Richard found fulfillment as a mechanic at True Value Hardware.

Richard's warm and outgoing personality endeared him to all who knew him. He possessed an innate ability to connect with people effortlessly. Throughout his life, he never met a stranger and always had a smile, a hug, and an engaging story to share. This quality made him a cherished friend and confidant to many.

A devout member of Pebble Creek Assembly of God, Richard found solace and guidance through his faith. His commitment to the church community earned him the respect of fellow congregants who appreciated his unwavering support.

In recognition of his character and contributions, Richard was honored as an Honorary Warrior in the Tribe of Mic-o-say at the H. Roe Bartle Scout Reservation. This distinguished achievement showcased Richard's dedication to mentorship and nurturing the next generation.

Richard's passing leaves an irreplaceable void in the lives of those he loved. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Brenda Knowles; their son Brian (Darlene) Knowles, and daughter Melannie (Robert) Reynolds; four beloved grandchildren, Gabrielle, Keegan, Mallorie, and Kallie. Richard is also survived by his brothers, Edward (Connie) Knowles and Kenny (Sherrolyn) Knowles; sisters, Nancy Coleman, Mary (Jack) Ray, and Carol Swadley. Additionally, he leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members who held a special place in his heart.

A visitation to commemorate Richard's life will be held on September 9, 2023, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Speaks Suburban Chapel in Independence, MO. This will be followed by a Funeral Service at the same location at 10:00 AM. Interment with full military honors will follow at Blue Springs Cemetery.

Richard Franklin Knowles will be remembered as a devoted family man, a loyal friend, and a selfless individual who touched the hearts of many. His legacy of kindness, compassion, and unwavering faith will live on in the memories of all those fortunate enough to have known him. May his soul find eternal peace.
