RICHARD LEE McCORMICK

Richard Lee McCormick, 88 of Independence, MO passed away Thursday, August 3, 2023 at his residence.  Private interment will be held at Mt. Washington Cemetery and a celebration of Richard’s life will be held at 3:00 p.m., Friday, August 11, 2023 at Sycamore Hills Baptist Church.  He was born August 30, 1934 in Kansas City, MO to Frank G. and Leona R. (Rollins) McCormick and has been a lifelong area resident.  He had worked as an airplane mechanic for TWA for 30 years before he retired.  He proudly served in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict.  He was a member and longtime deacon at Sycamore Hills Baptist Church.  Survivors include; his wife of nearly 66 years, Sandy of the home; a daughter, Julia Lyday of Englewood, FL; 3 grandchildren, Andrew Wilson, Emma Wilson and Skylar McCormick and 4 great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Russell McCormick and brother and sister-in-law, George and Shirley McCormick.
