Barbara Jean (Green) Richardson, a longtime resident of Independence Missouri, passed away Friday, October 16th, 2020 at Research Hospital. She was born in Nauvoo, Alabama, 85 years ago. She worked for Kmart for over 30 years. She still remembered people that worked for her all through the years. She was so much fun. She liked playing cards with friends and family and loved watching Royals baseball. Granny is what everyone called her once she had grandchildren. She was our rock and was loved by so many people. She especially loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They were the joy of her life. She loved reading her Bible and her In Touch books.
She is survived by her daughter Sheila Drake (Bob) of Blue Springs, Mo; sisters: Laura Dot Heady of Kansas City, Mo., Carmonell Winkler and Joann Hynds of Independence, Mo, brothers: Harold Green (Hope) of Tustin Ca, Bill Green (Jackie) of Kansas City, Mo; grandchildren: Teisha Barber (Jeremy) (Everett & Beckett) of Lee’s Summit, Mo; Cara Dillon (Jody) (Emilee & Logan) of Buckner, Mo; Ryan Richardson (Nicci) (Madison & Paityn) Blue Springs, Mo.; great-grandchildren (Preston Richardson), Independence, Mo. (Jackson Richardson) Blue Springs, Mo.; and numerous nieces, nephews and good friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Travis Jr. Richardson, son: Travis Wayne Richardson, daughter: Mary Valentina Richardson, granddaughter: Tara Drake, grandson: Brad Richardson, great-grandson: Brian Richardson, parents: John and Vivian Green, sisters: Lavern Richardson and Maxine Butts, and brothers: Dick Green and James Green.
Visitation from 6-8pm on Tuesday, October 20, with funeral service at 10am on Wednesday, October 21, all at Speaks Suburban Chapel 18020 East 39th St S, Independence Mo, 64055. Burial to follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Raytown, Mo.
