James Richardson, 81, of Independence, MO passed away Thursday, April 3, 2008 at the Villages of Jackson Creek. A visitation will be from 5-7:00 PM, Sunday, April 6 at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th Street, Independence. Services will be 2:00 PM, Monday at the Chapel with burial following at Oak Ridge Memory Gardens. James was born December 1, 1926 in Kansas City, MO to James A. and Edna Mae (Maning) Richardson. He worked as a receiving checker for Ford Motor Co. for 30 ½ years before his retirement. James enjoyed playing horseshoes, gardening, bowling, and cars. He loved to travel, taking yearly family vacations, and he had visited 49 states. James is survived by his wife of 59 years, Verna Carolyn Richardson; brother, Bill Richardson and companion Jane VanSant; son, Steven Richardson; daughters, Glenna Osborn and Victoria Richardson and husband Steven Due; five grandchildren: Jeffrey Neathery, Victoria Gilbert, Rachel Metzdorf, Ryan Richardson, and Clint Richardson; seven great-grandchildren: Dustin, Lindsey, Madison, Garland, Ashley, Tanner, and Colby; and one great-great-grandson, James.
