Rick Eugene Fullerton

June 11, 1927 — January 14, 2026

Rick Eugene Fullerton, a beloved husband, father, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 14, 2026, at the age of 98, in Warrensburg, Missouri. Rick was born to Leonard and Ruth (Cooper) Fullerton on June 11, 1927, in Sedalia, Missouri.

After graduating from Smith Cotton High School, Rick entered the United States Army Air Corp and served his country for 2 years. When he came home he furthered his education at Central Missouri State University, earning a bachelor's degree in accounting. He dedicated much of his career to the treasury department of the U.S. Government, a position he held for most of his life. His commitment to public service extended well beyond his career, as he also devoted countless hours volunteering at the Shepherd Center, and was an active member of both the American Legion and the Lions Club.

Those who had the pleasure of knowing Rick will remember him for his kind and playful spirit. He was well-known for his teasing nature, which brought joy and laughter to those around him. Music was a big part of Rick's life; he was a skilled clarinet and saxophone player who spent many years performing in a concert band with his brother-in-law, delighting audiences in Sedalia under the stars. Rick also entertained audiences with his “Big Band” performances, providing music that brought smiles and nostalgia alike.

Rick had a love for reading mystery novels and a deep desire to travel. Together with Betty, his beloved wife, they embarked on numerous bus tours and cruises across the country, cherishing memorable experiences, particularly during their visits to Mexico.

One of Rick’s proudest accomplishments was his time spent as president of the Jaycees, a commitment that allowed him to support and uplift his community. He was admired for his leadership and engagement in initiatives that sought to better the lives of those around him.

Rick leaves behind a legacy of kindness, dedication, and joy that will continue to resonate within the hearts of his family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know him. His spirit will live on through the stories shared and the memories cherished in the years to come.

He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Betty; daughter, Marla Niewiadomski; son, Phil Fullerton (Nancy); step-daughters, Kendra Newell (Scott) and Leslie Pollard; step-sons, Chris Heman (Linda) and Scot Hunter (Robert); 13 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his late wife, Barbara of 25 years; parents, Leonard and Ruth (Cooper) Fullerton.
