Robert Frederick Ries of Independence, MO passed away Tuesday, August 5, 2008 at Centerpoint Hospital, Independence. Funeral services will be August 9 at 10:30 AM at the First Presbyterian Church, 100 N. Pleasant St., Independence. Visitation will precede the service beginning at 9:30 AM. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery.
Robert was born June 4, 1919 in Pilot Grove, MO to John George and Ida Margaret Ries. He served in World War II in the Army Medical Corp. He was employed by Milgram Food Stores as meat manager for over 40 years. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, having served as Elder and had been a charter member of Trinity Presbyterian Church and was on the board many years.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Edward and Rubin and a sister Lorene Stegner. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Helen; three daughters: Paula and husband Dale Greer of Lee’s Summit, Carol and husband Richard Schellman of St. Thomas, MO, and Patti and husband Robert Finn of Broomfield, CO; six grandsons; one grand-daughter; one sister, Helen Boyer of Pilot Grove, MO.
