Ivan Eugene "Ike" Rinehart

Ivan Eugene"Ike" Rinehart, 84, of Independence, MO, passed away April 16, 2015, at St. Mary's Hospital in Blue Springs, MO. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, April 24, 2015, at the Missouri State Veteran's Cemetery in Higginsville, MO, with full military honors. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday evening at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055. Donations may be made in his name to the Wounded Warrior Project or the American Lung Association. He was born near Braymer, MO, on July 25, 1930, the son of Glen and Lena (Wilds) Rinehart. He was a proud US Marine, serving his country in the Korean War. He was one of the US Marines at the Atomic Exercise held at Camp Desert Rock, NV, participating in the Atomic Maneuver. Ivan retired from the Portable and Hoisting Engineers Local 101 Union where he spent 40 years as a heavy equipment operator. He married Irma (Claypole) Rinehart, his best friend and love, on June 14, 1957. He was preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Lena Rinehart; one sister, Gladys Deam; and two brothers, Leland Rinehart and Nelson Rinehart. He is survived by his wife, Irma; two sons, Bradley (Linda) Rinehart, of Lee's Summit and Brian Rinehart, of Independence; two grandsons, David Rinehart and Sean Rinehart, both of Independence; two granddaughters, Alyssa "Aly" Rinehart, of North Platte, NE, and Makalee Rinehart, of Lee's Summit; one great-grandson, Rylan Rinehart, of Independence; his little dog Daisy, whom he called "Pup"; one brother, Melvin Rinehart, of Cameron, Mo; two sisters, Catherine Hart, of Platte City, MO, and Ethel Hecks, of Holden, MO; and numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
