Robert E. “Bob” Rinehart, 84, of Independence, MO passed away Tuesday, July 28, 2009 at Centerpoint Medical Center. Services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 4, 2009 at Speaks Suburban Chapel. Visitation will be 5-8:00 p.m. Monday, August 3, 2009 in the chapel. Burial with full military honors in Mt. Washington Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #1. Bob was born April 7, 1925 in Kansas City, MO to William Ralph and Leona Belle (Johnson) Rinehart. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during WWII in Siapan, and the Korean Conflict. In 1964 he graduated from the FBI Academy in Washington D.C. Bob was a Police Officer for 36 years, retiring as Police Chief after 12 years in Independence, MO. He was Secretary Treasure of the FBI National Academy Association, President of the Missouri Police Chiefs Association, a 50 year Mason, and a member of the Ararat Shriners. Mr. Rinehart enjoyed traveling and golf in his spare time. Bob is survived by his wife Delois (Koehly) Rinehart; daughter Cheryl Koehly and husband Tom; son Robert E. Rinehart III and wife Patti; Step-children Sherle Christensen and husband John, Kerry Lull and wife Lisa, Rick Lull and wife Debi; twelve grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; his beloved four legged friend, Sugar; and by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Bob was preceded in death by his brother William R. Rinehart, Jr.
