Robert Leo
Yocum
September 13, 1943 – April 3, 2026
Robert Leo Yocum, lovingly known to many as Bob, passed away peacefully on April 3, 2026, in Independence, Missouri, surrounded by love. Born on September 13, 1943, in Missouri, Bob lived a life marked by dedication, passion, and an unwavering commitment to family.
Bob’s journey was one of both service and hard work. He served proudly in the Navy, a chapter of his life that instilled in him a profound sense of honor and patriotism. Following his military service, he applied his skill and precision as a machinist, a career that demonstrated his diligence and craftsmanship.
Beyond his professional life, Bob’s heart was deeply rooted in the simple joys and meaningful connections that enriched his days. He found great pleasure in watching movies, especially those featuring John Wayne, whose rugged spirit perhaps mirrored Bob’s own character. A proud veteran, Bob also had a keen interest in guns, golf, and cars, activities that brought him both relaxation and camaraderie. Riding his touring bike offered him moments of freedom and reflection, while listening to oldies and country music provided a comforting soundtrack to his life’s journeys.
Yet, above all else, Bob’s proudest accomplishment was his family. He cherished his role as a father to Lisa Motter, Gene Yocum and his wife Wendy, Jacqueline Tullis, and Tracy Tullis. His love extended warmly to his eleven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, with another joyfully expected, and even to his great-great-grandchild. These bonds were the foundation of his life, a source of endless pride and joy.
Bob’s life was also touched by loss and remembrance. He is reunited in spirit with his beloved wife, Tommie Yocum, and his parents, Lawrence and Thelma Yocum, who preceded him in death.
As we reflect on Bob’s life, we remember a man whose kindness, loyalty, and zest for life left an indelible mark on all who knew him. His legacy will live on through the family and friends he held so dear. Though he has departed this world, the love he cultivates will continue to inspire and comfort his loved ones for generations to come.
A graveside service will be held at Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, Missouri.
