Anna Marie Rodgers, 84, Independence, MO passed away July 8, 2011. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 am, Thursday, July 14, 2011 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 600 N. Liberty, Independence, MO; interment at Mound Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 pm, Wed. at Carson-Speaks Chapel, 510 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO 64052. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions to Grace Hospice, 9233 Ward Pkwy, Kansas City, MO 64114-3304.
Anna was born Jan. 23, 1927 in Florissant, MO. She graduated with her degree in Nursing and began her thirty-five year career as a registered nurse. She began her career at St. Mary’s Hospital in East St. Louis, IL and later worked in the Pediatrics Dept. at Independence Regional Hospital for thirteen years and at St. Francis Hospital in Memphis, TN for eight years. She enjoyed traveling the world with friends. She also loved gardening and playing cards. She was a member of St. Ann’s Parish and was a member of the Altar Society there.
Anna was preceded in death by her husband James E. Rodgers; brothers Daniel Vasquez, James Vasquez, Richard Vasquez, Joseph Vasquez, Marcus Vasquez, Eugene Vasquez; sisters Rosalie “Sis” Litteken and Dorothy Lienecke. She is survived by sons Chuck Rodgers and wife Debbie, Independence, MO; Bruce Rodgers and wife Sabrina, Greenwood, MO; daughter Mary Ann Cypret and husband Dave, Independence, MO; brothers Vernon Vasquez, Granite City, IL; sister Betty Vahlkamp and husband Arkell, Fayetteville, IL; brother Real Vasquez and wife Joan, Lenzburg, IL; sister Norma Bergkoetter, O’Fallon, IL; six grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.
