Roger Allen Beard, passed away peacefully on October 12, 2025, at the V.A. hospital at the age of 73. Born on October 6, 1952 to Dean Isreal and Mary Jane (Davis) Beard, in Kansas City, Missouri, Roger's life was marked by his profound creativity, unwavering kindness, and commitment to his family and his dear family of friends known as “the Mock Family”.
After graduating from East High School, Roger was drafted into the military. He then served 2 years serving his country in the United States Army. Afterward, Roger continued his education at the Kansas City Art Institute, where he earned his bachelor's degree in design. His passion for artistic expression led him to a rewarding career as a designer at Livers Bronze, where he dedicated over 30 years, becoming an integral part of the team and leaving a lasting impact through his work throughout the Kansas City area and beyond.
Roger's talents went far beyond his professional life. He was a gifted artist, painter, stained glass creator, designer and sculptor. His musical abilities shone through in his mastery of the piano and organ, showcasing his versatile talents. He also had a knack for sewing, upholstering, furniture design and building, further reflecting his love for creativity and craftsmanship.
Known for his quick wit, low-key demeanor, and genuine kindness, Roger was family-oriented. He cherished the moments spent with loved ones, and all the memories that were made at Mockwood with friends and family.
Roger is survived by his beloved spouse, Jerry Bray; sister-in-law, Susan Beard, niece, Tacey Beard; nephew, Richard Beard; great-niece, Moira; his Mock family and numerous cousins and friends.
He is preceded in death by his longtime partner of 20yrs, Lonn Beaudry, his parents, Dean and Mary Jane Beard and his brother, Byron Beard.
A visitation will be held in honor of Roger on October 23, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Carson-Speaks Chapel, located at 1501 W Lexington Ave, Independence, MO 64052. Following this, a funeral service will take place at the same location from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Roger will be laid to rest during a burial service at Mt. Washington Cemetery, 614 S Brookside Ave, Independence, MO 64053.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Grace United Community Ministries, 801 Benton Boulevard, Kansas City, Mo. 64124, an organization that was near and dear to Roger’s heart.
Roger will be remembered for his artistic talents, his commitment to both his family and his close friends that he considered “the Mock family”, and the joy he brought to countless lives. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who were privileged to know him.
