Charles E. Rogers, 63 of Independence, MO passed away, Friday, November 21, 2008 at the Kansas City Hospice House. Cremation is planned with a memorial service to be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 26, 2008 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. Inurnment with full military honors will follow in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, MO. There will be a rosary recited at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday followed by family visitation from 6 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday evening at the chapel. Donations may be made to the Kansas City Hospice House. Charles was born May 24, 1945 in Topeka, KS to Charles E. and Frances Margaret (Downey) Rogers. He moved to Independence and graduated from William Chrisman High School in 1966 and later attended college in Springfield and William Jewel. He proudly served his country in the US Marine Corps in Vietnam. He worked as a truck driver for Kaw Transport and later was a realtor for Englewood Plaza Realty for a number of years. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the Masonic Lodge and was a Royal Order of Jester’s Court 54, who will be conducting their ceremony at the memorial service. Charles was a fun loving man who enjoyed golf, fishing, boating and most of all riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Cheryl of the home; his daughters, Christy Rogers of Independence, MO and Alicia Niccum of Cole Camp, MO; sisters, Kathleen Harris of Nebraska, Mary Alice Walsh of New Jersey and Vera Fullington of South Carolina and 2 grandchildren, Jesse Niccum and Emily Niccum.
