James William Rogers, 64, Independence, MO, passed away Saturday, June 6, 2009 at his home.
Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Friday, June 12, 2009 at Carson Speaks Funeral Home; 1501 W. Lexington Ave. Independence, MO. Graveside services will be 1:00 PM Friday at Richmond Memory Garden. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Children’s Mercy Hospital.
James was born August 15, 1944 in Kansas City, MO the son of Noel C., Sr. and Marjorie (Williams) Rogers. He was a 1962 graduate of Northeast High School and received his Bachelors in Education in 1965 from CMSU, received his Master in Education from UMKC. James taught Elementary for over 30 years with Independence School District. He had a passion for helping children read, which he wrote several books in assisting children.
His parents preceded him in death.
Survivors include his brothers, Noel C. Rogers and his wife Marilyn, Independence; and Terry L. Rogers and his wife Pamela, Gladstone; two grandsons, Josh and Shawn Rogers; and two great grandsons.
