Donald W. Rohr, 78, of Independence, MO went to be with the Lord on April 12, 2014. Don was born April 19, 1935 in LeRoy, KS to Jesse and Iva (Wright) Rohr. He married his high school sweetheart, Adele Holmes. Together they raised a family of four children, Glenda Callicott (Mike), Doug Rohr (Nancy), Dean Rohr (Kim) and Dennis Rohr (Susie); twelve grandchildren; and thirteen great grandchildren. In addition, he is survived by a sister, Shirley Ross; and numerous nieces and nephews. Don was a devoted husband, father, grandpa and great grandpa. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandkids and great grandkids. He enjoyed precious time with them, sharing hobbies and playing sports. Don was involved in Boy Scouts with his sons. He loved fishing, hunting and being outdoors. He shared his appreciation of nature with his daughter. Don was a longtime member of the Independence First United Methodist Church, and was very involved with the Men’s Club and all of their projects. He had a servant’s heart and a gentle spirit. Don was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Iva Rohr; two brothers, Willis and Bob Rohr; and great granddaughter Grace. A visitation will take place from 6-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 16, at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO. A celebration of life service will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 17, at Independence First United Methodist Church, 400 W. Maple St., Independence, MO 64050, and a graveside service will follow at Mt. Washington Cemetery.
