Vivian J. Rotz, 86 of Independence, MO passed away, Saturday, February 22, 2014 at Benton House in Lee’s Summit, MO. Services will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at the Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO 64052. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday evening at the chapel. Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at the Hiawatha Cemetery in Hiawatha, KS. Donations may be made to the National Parkinson’s Foundation or to the Christ United Methodist Church. Vivian was born August 24, 1927 near Hiawatha, KS to Paul Edward and Mabel Esther (Irving) Veach. She attended Kansas State University in Manhattan, KS and received her medical technician training at Bethany Hospital in Kansas City, KS. She had worked as a registered medical technician for 50 years before she retired in 1998. She loved traveling, working in her flower garden and genealogy research. She was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church in Independence, MO, the Beta Sigma Phi sorority for 60 years. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Charles R. Rotz of the home; 2 daughters, Cindy Terry and her husband, Bill of Lee’s Summit, MO and Lisa Brown of Harleysville, PA; 4 grandchildren, Matthew and Devin Brown and Jonathan and Jason Terry and 1 great grandchild, Jack Terry. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Rosalys Bauer and a brother, Paul Veach.
