Ruby Jeanette (Setser) Goins, 93, of Wheatland, MO passed away Thursday, March 21, 2024 at Citizens Memorial Hospital in Bolivar, MO. Funeral visitation will be 1-2 p.m. on Thursday, March 28, 2024 with funeral service to follow at 2 p.m. at Carson-Speaks Funeral Home at 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO. Interment will be immediately after the service at Mt. Washington Cemetery.
Ruby was born October 1, 1930 in Cherokee Township, Arkansas to parents Ona Mae (Trammell) Setser and Joseph Earl Setser. She met future husband, Charles (Bill) Goins, in Kansas City and they were married May 11, 1948. Ruby was a mother of four and stayed home with her children until they were older. She then went to work for a local McDonald’s franchise where she worked for approximately 27 years before retiring.
When not working, Ruby enjoyed bowling, square dancing, playing cards with friends and attending her children’s school and athletic events. She enjoyed traveling in their RV where she and Bill traveled all across the country. She enjoyed watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren play baseball, soccer, basketball, dance and swim and even started watching hockey.
Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, Ona Mae and Joseph Earl, her brothers Leon Setser and Donald Setser, sisters Marie Wade and Ann Wilson, her husband Bill and eldest son Billy Joe. She is survived by her children, Jim (Sandy) Goins of Wheatland, MO, Rich (Kelly) Goins of Lee’s Summit, MO, Sue (Brent) McMilian of Wheatland, MO along with six grandchildren, Rebecca (Brian) Arnold of Kansas City, MO, Angela Goins (Jerry Gullion) of Lee’s Summit, MO, Jake Goins of Omaha, NE, Jordan Goins of Blue Springs, MO, Christa McMilian of Kansas City, KS and Kelli (Kacey) Godwin of Blue Springs, MO, and four great grandchildren, Alexandra Arnold, Caitlyn Arnold, Colton Goins and Jonas Goins-Coleman.
Ruby, “Rube”, “Rubert”, Mom, Grandma, and Great Grandma will be sorely missed.
