Gary K. Ruckman, 64, of Independence, MO passed away Wednesday, December 31, 2008 at his home after fighting a very courageous battle with Cancer. Gary was born in Bellaire, OH, on August 16, 1944. He moved to Independence, MO in 1976. He was a retired employee of Caravan Ingredients in Lenexa, KS. Gary is survived by his brother, Bruce Ruckman and wife Jane; three sisters, Mae Lasley and husband Waldo, Nancy Lappert and Edna Rose Ruckman; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends that he dearly loved. Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph E. Sr. and Edna (Yocum) Ruckman; brothers, Ralph Emery Ruckman and his wife, Ingrid Charlotte Ruckman, and Edward Ellsworth Ruckman. Gary was strong in his faith in the Lord. He reflected it in his life by taking care of those in need. Other than helping the needy, Gary’s was very passionate about restoring old cars. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. A visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 4, with a service to follow at 1:00 p.m. at the Speaks Suburban Chapel.
