Gerald R. Runion, 92 Independence, MO passed away Dec. 20, 2009. Masonic Services will be held at 10 am, Wed. Dec. 23, 2009 at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th Street, Independence, MO 64055; interment at Oak Ridge Memory Gardens. Visitation will begin one hour before service time at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions to the Heart of American Boy Scouts or the Juvenile Diabetes Research Assoc.
Gerald was born Dec. 11, 1917 in Sheldon, MO and grew up in Lamar, MO. He worked for Armco Steel Co. for thirty-eight years and retired in 1981. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Independence, the Shrine, the Scottish Rite, the Masonic Lodge, Eastern Star Lodge and the Steelworkers Union. He enjoyed fishing for crappie and tending his vegetable garden.
Gerald was preceded in death by his wife Adalyne, daughter Norma Joan Partch, brother Luther Runion and sister Margaret Costley. He is survived by daughter Margaret Nelson and husband Terry; son-in-law Carlyle Partch, all of Independence, MO; brothers Paul Runion and wife Betty, Lee’s Summit, MO; Earl Runion and wife Betty, Bethany, OK; sisters Virginia Medlin, Darlene Gardner and husband Bill, all of Lamar, MO; grandchildren Richard Partch and wife Margaret, Smithville, MO; Laura Ward and husband David, Adrian, MO; Kathryn Nichol and husband David, Independence, MO; Karin Schafer and husband Ron; Andrea Mynatt and husband Sam, all of Blue Springs, MO; and sixteen great-grandchildren.
