Ruth A. Morrison passed away on May 15, 2026, in Kansas City, Missouri. Born on April 17, 1934, in Wroughton, England, Ruth’s early years unfolded amidst the challenges of World War II. Growing up during such a demanding time shaped her resilient spirit and humble nature.
Ruth later moved to the United States, where she adapted to a new life and culture. In England, wartime rationing had limited her exposure to cooking, a skill that came later in life when her late husband, Gene, lovingly taught her. This experience ignited a passion for cooking and service that would define much of her life. Ruth found deep fulfillment in her role as the cafeteria manager at Smith-Hale Junior High School, a position she held with dedication for 22 years. Her meticulous approach and kind, sometimes ornery, disposition made her a respected figure among students and staff alike. Many fondly remember her famous homemade rolls, a testament to her love for nurturing others.
Beyond her professional life, Ruth was a woman of many interests and vibrant personality. Ruth found joy in music and the camaraderie of playing bingo. While living at the Morningview Adult Community, she actively participated in the book club and Bible study, cherishing the fellowship and engagement these activities provided.
Ruth’s presence was a blend of warmth and strength, she never knew a stranger and was a memorable and loved individual in all circles she moved within.
Ruth is survived by her son, Micheal Morrison (JoAnn); daughter, Linda Henderson (Marvin); grandchildren, Matthew Morrison, Melissa Morrison Miller and Amy Henderson; and great-grandchildren, Micah and Miles Miller.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 53 years, Harold “Gene” Morrison; parents, Ezra and Winifred (Curtis) Turner; son, Randy Morrison; grandson, Erik Henderson and sister, Jean Summers.
A graveside service to honor Ruth’s life will be held on May 22, 2026, at 2:00 PM at the Raymore Cemetery, located at the corner of Lucy Webb Road and Aspen Road in Raymore, Missouri.
