Scherry Kay Salmon, 68, Independence, MO passed away March 31, 2011. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 am, Monday, April 4, 2011 at St. Mark’s Catholic Church, 3736 S. Lees Summit Road, Independence, MO followed by a committal service at Mt. Olivet Cemetery; cremation. Scherry’s life will be celebrated at a visitation 5-7 pm, Sunday, April 3 at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E 39th St., Independence, MO.
Scherry was born Jan. 18, 1943 in Mexico, MO to William M. and Mary Virginia (Pettit) Kilgore. She was a 1961 graduate of Slater High School. She was a personal shopper at The Jones Store (which later became Macy’s) for twenty-five years and retired in 2009. She was a member of St. Mark’s Parrish and Beta Sigma Phi. Scherry was always up on the latest fashions and loved to shop. She also enjoyed photography, travel and dancing, but most of all she enjoyed her grandchildren.
Scherry is survived by her husband of forty-five years Steven Salmon, of the home; son Walter Salmon; daughters Joy L. Brigman and husband Michael, all of Lee’s Summit, MO; Virginia L. Hardy and husband Kyle, Manchester, MO; step-sister Karen Smith, Marshall, MO; step-brother Larry Mullins, Lee’s Summit, MO; aunt Joe Ann Jett and husband Harold, Independence, MO; and seven grandchildren.
