Ygnacio Santellan
Ygnacio Santellan, 86, of Independence, MO passed away May 19, 2009 at Lee’s Summit Hospital. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 22, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Independence, MO. Ygnacio was born January 21, 1923 in Kansas City, MO. He lived in Independence for the last thirty years. He was married to Marcella for forty-nine years, who preceded him in death in 1998, along with his brother, Paul Santellan; and his twin, Isabel Reyes. “Nacho” worked and retired at Armco Steel Corp. for forty-five years. He was a Scoutmaster and a Sacrum in the Tribe of Mic-O-Say. He belonged to the VFW Post 1829 and played with their Drum and Bugle Corp. He enjoyed hiking, camping and the outdoors. His legacy was keeping the family together and time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Survivors include daughter, Margarita (Bill) Sullivan; sons, Ygnacio (Gloria Santellan Jr. and Candido Santellan; and daughter, Delores Santellan; six grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren, which were always close to his heart. The family would like to acknowledge some special family friends, Roy Farmer, Diana Santellan, Joan Palluck and Jackie Benedetto. He would like to thank all of those who cared for him in his special time of need.
