Kenneth Eugene Savage

Kenneth Eugene Savage, 89, Independence, MO passed away Tuesday, January 21, 2014.

Kenneth was born September 28, 1924 in Independence, MO the son of Ralph and Ola (Gunsolley) Savage. He was a 1943 graduate of William Chrisman High School. Kenneth was a U.S. Navy Pilot Veteran of WWII and a member of the Reserves. After serving in the military Kenneth received his Associates Degree from Graceland College in 1948 and later his Bachelors in Education from Washington State Teacher College in Pullman, WA. Kenneth taught Jr. High for Soap Lake School District. He served as an Elder with the Community of Christ and pastored a church in Washington State.

Survivors include his loving wife, Virginia Savage of 65 years; children, Greg Savage and his wife Becky; Thresa Harney, and Eric Savage; grandchildren, Tena and Jessica Savage, Nathan Harney and Kris Shaw; great grandchildren, Lily, Duke, Dean, Alexis, Chase and Ryan; and additional nieces, nephews, and family. Kenneth was preceded in death by his sister, Vernadee Martin; brother, Harold Savage; son-in-law, Russell Harney; and his parents.

Memorial services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 25, 2014 at Stone Church; 1012 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO 64050. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Stone Church or Outreach International.
