Mary Saylor, 82, Independence, MO slipped the surly bonds of earth and danced on laughter’s wings, reached up and since Monday, August 31, 2009 has been with her Lord, companion, family, and friends. Speaks Suburban Chapel; 18020 E. 39th St. Independence, MO. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM Tuesday. Funeral services 10 AM Wednesday, September 9, 2009 Mary was born July 1, 1927 in Independence, MO the daughter of Ray E. and Lora M. (Kerr) Beem. She was a member of the South Chrysler Restoration Branch. Mary was First Vice President of the American Federation of Government Employees for several years and was a member of the AFL-CIO. She was a small airplane pilot and loved the Intl Balloon Fiesta and Races, attended the first Fiesta in 1972. Mary retired in 1987 after 25 years of Federal Civil Service. Mary is preceded in death by her husband, William A. Saylor; fourteen brothers and sisters and her parents. Survivors include her sister Ruth Hobson, of Benton City WA, sister in laws Dorothy Beem, Anna Lee Beem of Independence; her children, Lora Shilling of Independence; Janie Kwitowski and her husband Vince of Shawnee, OK; Deborah Saylor Pierce and her husband Ken and William A. Saylor II and his wife Katherine of Albuquerque, NM; seven grandchildren; four great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Burial at Leavenworth National Cemetery.
