Born on November 29, 1943, in Kansas City, Kansas, to William Gordon and Irene Elliott, Scarlet was raised in Chillicothe, Missouri, where she developed strong values and a warmth that would touch many throughout her life.

Scarlet received her nursing degree from Research Medical Center and dedicated her career to caring for others. Her compassion and commitment to her patients were hallmarks of her professional life, making a lasting impact on those she served.

Beyond her impressive career, Scarlet was known for her love of life and her vibrant spirit. As a sports enthusiast, she passionately cheered for the Kansas City Chiefs and Kansas City Royals, often gathering with friends and family to watch the games. Additionally, in her spare time, she delighted in the quiet pleasure of putting together puzzles, a pastime that reflected her thoughtful nature.

Scarlet and Kenny took pride in their shared accomplishments, most notably their family and designing and building the house of their dreams, a testament to their partnership and love for each other. Scarlet shared over 62 years with Kenny, and raised a loving family together, including their son, Greg Gerdts, and daughter, Kenda Bartowski (Kenny).
