Evelyn Schmitt

Evelyn Arnette Schmitt, 86, of Independence, MO, passed away Tuesday, January 29, 2008 at Centerpoint Medical Center. Memorial Services will be 3:00 p.m. Saturday, February 9, 2008 at Carson-Speaks Chapel. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service from 2-3:00 p.m. Cremation. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Groves Activity Fund or the Humane Society. Evelyn was born September 16, 1921 in Spokane, WA to Charles C. and Olive L. (Tomlinson) Crabb. She was a graduate of William Chrisman High School before attending the Kansas City Art Institute. Evelyn was an accomplished painter and a wonderful seamstress. She worked in the banking industry as a teller for 30 years. Evelyn is survived by her daughters Diana (Storm) Harter, Kathleen (Storm) Schneider; granddaughters Rhonda Jones, Kelly Fuller; great-granddaughters Alyssa and Erika Jones; sisters LaVona Coleman, Mildred McClain, Donna Ochs; and by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many special friends. Family extends a special thanks to the staff at Rosewood for their love and care of Evelyn.
